We are excited to announce Maddux Rychel as Head Coach of the SCP U14 AAA team for the upcoming season.
Maddux Rychel brings an extensive background in playing, coaching, and player development to the Sun County Panthers U14 team.
A former Sun County Panther
himself, Maddux began his playing career at the age of 15 following U16. His journey took him to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he
played with the Windsor Spitfires, before finishing his career with the Leamington
Flyers. In addition to coaching, Maddux has spent the past five seasons with
the Oshawa Generals (OHL) as a regional scout, covering both the Alliance and
Michigan areas.
Over the past five years, Maddux
has worked closely and consistently with the SCP 2011 team before exploring new
opportunities this season. His accomplishments with the 2011 group include:
- Three Alliance Finals appearances
- A U14 OHL Cup appearance in Kingston last year
- Multiple International Silver Stick appearances
- Significant player development both on and off the
ice
Maddux comes from a strong hockey
family. His brother, Kerby, and his father, Warren, both played in the National
Hockey League. Kerby, a former first-round draft pick of the Columbus Blue
Jackets, is now retired. His father, Warren, currently serves as the Director
of Pro Scouting for the Edmonton Oilers.
For players and families deciding
between Sun County and another program, the choice should be clear — Sun County
stands apart. With Maddux’s unmatched experience in player development,
coaching, and strong relationships throughout the CHL and NCAA, he provides
athletes with the guidance and connections needed to reach the next level.
See you at the SCP tryouts!
