Ryan Roach

Ryan brings a strong passion for the game and thrives on building a fun team environment for his players to develop in. He combines both his playing and coaching experience to develop his team into great hockey players and exceptional people.

His playing career has seen him wear both local AAA sweaters, and he was even a member on one of the first Sun County Panther teams back in 1995. After playing AAA his entire minor hockey career, he moved on to Junior teams such as the Tecumseh Chiefs and most notably the Essex 73s. In Essex, Ryan learned how to become a winner and is a two time Schmaltz Cup Champion. Ryan was recently honoured by the 73s organization by being called to their Wall of Fame, which honors the top players in franchise history. You can see his picture up on the wall in our home rink displaying an example of what greatness is for all our Panthers players to look up to. Ryan attributes his hockey success to hard work and dedication, and he brings that work ethic with him when he is coaching a team.

After playing, Ryan went directly into coaching and spent time as an Assistant Coach in both local AAA organizations for six seasons. After taking some time off to start his family, he quickly jumped back into volunteering his time as a coach when his kids began to play hockey. Overall, Ryan has been behind the bench for over 13 seasons and is looking forward to building a strong team in Sun County with the top 2016 kids in this area.

Kevin Beuglet

Kevin Beuglet is a highly experienced hockey coach with 38 years of dedication to the sport. He has coached at every level, from Mites to U18, helping players develop both fundamental skills and advanced game strategies. His leadership extends beyond coaching, as he has held numerous board positions within BRDMHA, including president, travel director, and player development director.

Kevin is committed to fostering strong player development, focusing on skill enhancement, team systems, and overall hockey IQ. His extensive experience allows him to create a structured and competitive environment that helps athletes reach their full potential. His passion for the game and dedication to mentorship make him a valuable asset to any team or organization. Whether working with beginners or elite players, Kevin emphasizes hard work, teamwork, and a deep understanding of the game, ensuring his players grow both on and off the ice.×

Jack Van Boekel

Jack Van Boekel brings a wealth of experience and passion to the game as a new coach with the Sun County Panthers. After a successful playing career, Jack retired from professional hockey in 2024 and transitioned into coaching to share his knowledge with the next generation of athletes as a coach with Danger Hockey Development (DHD).  

A former Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) player, Jack developed his skills at the junior level before playing three seasons at the University of Windsor. His time in university hockey further honed his leadership, work ethic, and understanding of the game, preparing him for the professional ranks.  

Now, as a coach, Jack focuses on skill development, hockey IQ, and helping players reach their full potential. His experience at multiple levels of the game allows him to provide valuable insights, whether working with young prospects or elite players looking to take the next step.×

Myles Doan

Coaching Philosophy and Values:

Utilizing both his experience as a player in the OHL and OUA and his Master’s degree in sport psychology, Myles offers a unique perspective on developing players both on and off the ice. He and his staff put a premium on leadership, communication, and personal growth which fosters healthy team environments and develops interpersonal skills that transcend a sport setting.   

On-ice, Myles and his staff put a great focus on systematic and positional play, while still focusing on skill development. This is accomplished through detailed walk-throughs, video sessions, small area drills, and game-like scenarios. In terms of skill development, the staff possesses great knowledge on the fundamentals of skating, passing, shooting, and stick handling and how to apply it to game situations. With 10 years of experience as a skills and skating coach, Myles can identify players’ needs and how to improve them.

Laine Parent

This staff advocates for a development-first approach, emphasizing exposure to various game situations that promote adaptability, decision-making, and confidence on the ice. The coaching staff utilizes small-area games and high-intensity drills to foster hockey IQ, strong body positioning, and situational awareness in each player while leveraging systems in all 3 zones. "Games are an opportunity for growth, and practices are where we build the skills to succeed. Our goal is to create competitive athletes who are prepared for any situation the game throws at them, now and in the future."

Ryan Best

Ryan Best, born in Matsqui, British Columbia, is a prominent figure in the hockey community, particularly in the Windsor, Ontario area. He has an extensive background as both a player and a coach.    

Playing Career: Ryan's playing career includes time during the Sun County Panther’s inaugural season over 25 years ago. Ryan ended up playing in the WSHL for the Phoenix Polar Bears, Utah Jr. Grizzly’s, and fighting for the National tittle with Sacramento Capital City Thunder. Ryan ended his career with the Windsor St. Clair Saints playing in the OHASr.   

Coaching Career: Transitioning into coaching, Ryan has held several notable positions including two years with the Dallas Titans in the WSHL as the leagues youngest head coach. Coming back to Ontario, Ryan transitioned into AAA with Windsor as an assistant coach for two years. Moving back to his roots, Ryan was placed as a head coach with the Sun County Panthers AAA organization from 2017 to 2022. In recognition of his coaching excellence, he was named the ALLIANCE Hockey Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 season.  

During the 2022-23 season Ryan took on the role of assistant coach for the women's hockey team at the University of Windsor. The following year he assisted with Essex 73's in the PJCHL. During the 2024-25 season Ryan moved back to the head coaching position for the U15 Sun County Panthers where the team is currently holding a playoff position. Ryan currently holds 65% winning percentage as a coach.   

In addition to these roles, Ryan is the owner and head instructor of Defensive Edge Hockey, a position he has held since 2010. He has also helped contribute to multiple teams and organizations at various levels as a primary consultant. Ryan Best's dedication to hockey in the Tecumseh and Windsor regions is evident through his ongoing commitment to developing young talent and contributing to the sport's growth at various levels.×

Danny Anger

Danny Anger brings an extensive background in playing, coaching, and player development to the Sun County Panthers U16 team, making him one of the most experienced and well-connected coaches in the region.  

A former Sun County Panther himself, Danny’s playing career took him to the OHL with the Sarnia Sting before he continued at the University of Windsor, competing in OUA hockey. His deep passion for the game led him to found Danger Hockey Development, Windsor’s premier hockey development company, where he has trained and mentored players at all levels.  

Beyond coaching, Danny holds a business and law degree from the University of Windsor and currently works in the Secretariats Office at the University. His 10+ years in the sports agency business have allowed him to build strong relationships with OHL scouts, general managers, and NCAA programs, giving his players an unmatched advantage when it comes to exposure and advancement opportunities.  

With 15 years of coaching experience, including three seasons at the Junior C level with the Essex 73s and 12 years within the Sun County system, Danny has built a proven track record of success. His accomplishments include:  

- OHF/Alliance Championship (2005s)
- Two consecutive Alliance Championships (2009s)
- Winter Games Gold Medal (2009s)
- Multiple players projected to be drafted in the 2025 Ontario Priority    Draft.  

Throughout his career, Danny helped reach the NHL, countless players move on to the OHL, and many more advance to Junior hockey. His commitment to player development goes beyond the ice—he builds strong rapports with his players and families, ensuring that each athlete is not only prepared for the next level of hockey but also for life beyond the sport.
